Match Report
Woodbridge School Girls-U11A vs  Holmwood House Preparatory School
On: Wednesday, 13 Nov 2019
Venue: at Home

Despite the narrow pitch, the girls continued to play the wide hockey and passing game we have been working on. The first half was unfortunately a little lacklustre in terms of work, particularly in defence. This resulted in some early, easy goals for Holmwood. In the second half, the girls showed what they can really do. Hard running from Izzy and Felicity set the tone for a much better display. Charlie, Felicity and Aurelia gained more possession and were able to release Eloise or Rosie up front. As ever, Eloise ran with pace and power at the defenders creating several good chances, one of which she converted herself. Rosie had her best game to date making two superb crosses that did not quite find a Woodbridge stick. Martha made some very good saves in goal whilst Lily and Rosa were excellent in defence, trusting each other with transfers and hard passes. Lily made many excellent tackles and interceptions ensuring that several attacks were thwarted. Unfortunately, Holmwood had some excellent forwards who converted their chances but I felt we still played the better hockey and worked the ball into spaces more effectively. Keep believing girls that this is about performances, not results. You are showing such bravery in the way you play and the way you trust what we are trying to achieve as hockey players for the future and not for instant results. Tough game again next week against Ipswich Prep so work hard Friday and we will get the performance we deserve!
